Work as a Head of Operational Safeguarding in Exeter
Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced, motivated, enthusiastic Head of Safeguarding with an in-depth knowledge of safeguarding adults and children and MCA, who has advanced analytical skills and will provide professional leadership and promote excellent safeguarding practice across Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust ("Royal Devon"). The post holder will have experience working within a Health or Social Care organisation and will hold relevant professional qualifications and registration.
About the Role
The post-holder will be a senior and integral part of our established safeguarding and MCA service reporting to the Associate Director of Safeguarding and working closely with the Directors of Nursing and Chief Nurse Executive Lead to deliver our statutory safeguarding requirements.
You will be responsible for operational management of the safeguarding service and provide strong leadership for staff which promotes an environment of creativity, innovation and compassion. You must have excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to produce comprehensive and excellent quality assurance reports.
You will be required to attend and deputise for the Associate Director of Safeguarding at meetings across Devon and represent the trust at Multi-agency, integrated care board and safeguarding board/partnership meetings.
The safeguarding service is an exceptional service to work for. We are a team providing specialist advice and operational support to staff across the Royal Devon in the Acute, Community and Specialist Services. We represent the Trust and collaborate with all aspects of adult/children board/partnerships and Integrated care boards across Devon where we provide clinical services.
The post holder has a key role in the delivery of the safeguarding and MCA statutory and regularity responsibilities and provide leadership and management responsibilities to the Safeguarding Team .
You will lead development and have oversight of areas of work delivered by the safeguarding service. This could include training, supervision, audit, PREVENT, health input into multi-agency safeguarding hubs, domestic abuse, modern slavery, safeguarding adult reviews or children safeguarding practice reviews. You will have a key role to play in ensuring learning and recommendations from safeguarding adult reviews (SARs), child safeguarding practice reviews (CSPR), rapid reviews and domestic homicide reviews (DHR) are implemented in a timely way within the Trust.
You will provide expert advice on safeguarding and MCA related matters with an excellent knowledge of national safeguarding related legislation, guidance and practice.
You will be required to support staff with complex case management and escalation working towards improved partnership working and quality assurance.
You will be required to work collaboratively with colleagues from all clinical directorates within the Royal Devon as well as partner agencies to facilitate the operationalisation of safeguarding strategies.
Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
