Senior Engineer
Stress
to join our CAE Team in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. This is a senior role providing structural analysis to support Fortescue WAEs diverse project portfolio. Aiding conceptual direction, design-development and developing toolsets and methodologies for improved correlation with physical test.
Job role:
Working within the stress analysis group, supporting the wider CAE department.
Working across a matrix structure, supporting project teams to fulfil customer requirements and deliverables.
To be client-centric, interacting directly with internal and external customers.
To work across a wider variety of projects, for diverse clients across a number of engineering sectors.
Provide project pre-contract and kick off representation as well as main point of contact and independent running of large, complex projects.
Aiding concept direction, through feasibility and early stage analysis.
Presentation, reporting and discussion of analysis results and participation in design reviews.
Creation, development and running of stress analysis simulations including:
Implicit analysis in response to service loads
Explicit analysis in response to crash requirements
Modal and frequency response simulation
Fatigue analysis and calculation
Hand calculations for mechanical fixings, inserts and bonded joints
Load case generation from various sources
Detailed analysis of simulation results and creation of comprehensive post processing.
Aiding correlation activity with input to physical testing, calibration and validation.
To balance multiple concurrent projects and manage your own workload.
Developing co-simulation toolsets and stress methodologies within Fortescue WAE.
Documenting procedures, best practises and simulation methodologies
Supporting/mentoring of engineers and project engineers within the group
Checking and approval of calculations, simulations and reports.
Management of external CAE resource in conjunction with the CAE Manager/Lead Engineer
Actively pursuing CPD activity within professional engineering
Attend and/or present at conferences/seminars and seek opportunities to promote Fortescue WAE
Youll have:
A Degree in mechanical, automotive, or aerospace engineering.
EXTENSIVE experience of stress simulation with one or more of the following:
Implicit analysis, ideally using Altair OPTISTRUCT
Explicit analysis, ideally using Altair RADIOSS or LS-Dyna
Fatigue analysis, ideally using nCode or FEMFAT"
Knowledge of running non-linear analysis would be beneficial.
Experience with analysis of metallic and composite structures would be beneficial.
Experience in the automotive, aerospace or motorsport industry.
Some practical experience of physical testing would be beneficial.
Working knowledge of TeamCentre and of CATIA V5 or Siemens NX would be advantageous.
Working towards, or have achieved, Chartership status with the IMechE/IET (or similar) would be advantageous.
