basis.
A bit about the school A lovely special school that delivers extremely high-quality education. It caters for pupils aged 2 - 19 and operates on a pupil-centred basis. Pupils follow tailored educational programs which meet their individual needs. Staff are highly trained to support
a range of different severe and profound learning difficulties, and many are also trained in a range of specific interventions, such as music therapy, rebound therapy, thrive, animal therapy and more. The staff are extremely supportive and committed to working
collaboratively to ensure the best outcomes for all pupils. The school is dedicated to continued professional development of their staff. All staff take part is a comprehensive and incredibly supportive induction program, which is then followed up with more
individualised training on an ongoing basis.
A bit about the role Providing one-to-one support for secondary school aged pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties. In conjunction with the class teacher, you will play a pivotal role in supporting students social, emotional and academic needs. All pupils have an
EHCP in place, which will assist you in delivering targeted and meaningful support. You will also play a key role in reviewing developmental progress and setting new targets. Daily activities will focus on helping pupils develop essential skills which enable
them to leave school as confident individuals with the capability of achieving their very best.
Main responsibilities and duties
Supporting secondary school pupils that have severe and profound learning difficulties.
Working 1:1 with pupils and leading small group interventions.
Providing personal care that ensures safety and dignity.
Contributing to annual review meetings and other progress reviews, together with the class teacher.
Collaborating with colleagues and external professionals regularly.
Essential criteria
GCSE grade 5 in Maths and English
Previous experience supporting pupils with SEND
Available 5 days per week, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Desirable criteria
Previous experience supporting secondary school pupils with SEND
12 months or more experience supporting pupils with severe and profound learning difficulties
Previous experience/training in Thrive, or other equivalent interventions
Previous experience/training in communication and language interventions
Previous experience liaising with SENCOs and/or external professionals
Knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
