This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and provide dental technical support for our postgraduate Prosthodontics Unit laboratories at the world-class UCL Eastman Dental Institute. The Institute relocated to state-of-the-art facilities in 2020. We are seeking to recruit a dental Technical Instructor who will be required to work as part of a wider team of dental technical instructors and clinical academics to deliver teaching, research and the production of patient prosthodontic devices in a dental laboratory. The postholder is expected to support and develop the postgraduate trainees' understanding of the technical aspects of their clinical procedures and assist and guide in dental material technology. About the role Within this exciting role, the postholder will play an important part in providing high-quality technical support to our student and academic cohort. This includes maintaining a safe working environment for students and staff in our laboratories by following our Health & Safety policies and working procedures and ensuring general tidiness and cleanliness of all lab areas. The main purpose of this position is: To support the Senior Chief Instructor Technician and the wider team in development of formal and informal teaching of all aspects of the technical procedures required for laboratory construction of fixed and removable restorations, prostheses or other appliances used in Prosthodontics. This will involve both analogue and digital workflows. Supervision of the laboratory procedures undertaken by postgraduate trainees (both EDI and Hospital-based) as part of their training programme. This includes both analogue and digital workflows. Control and issue of laboratory consumables, including precious metals, as determined by the Senior Chief Instructor Technician. Starting salary will range from £46,974 to £56,021 depending on experience with an additional London allowance of £4,500. Interviews are expected to take place on a date TBC and will also include a practical assessment element. A portfolio of work will also be required to be submitted by any applicants shortlisted. You must also have knowledge and working experience in the area of Prosthodontics dental technology, with an emphasis on fixed prosthodontics, experience working using analogue workflows and be computer literate in order to work with digital workflows and digital dental technology software. You should be GDC registered and have relevant specialist Prosthodontic dental technology experience with good theoretical knowledge of dental materials and techniques, preferably in both analogue and digital workflows.
