Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain robust cost estimates for major Defence Nuclear and Nuclear Deterrent projects.
Analyse and interpret complex technical specifications and project plans to identify cost drivers and potential risks.
Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and cost reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry best practices.
Monitor project progress and expenditures, identifying variances and advising project managers on potential cost overruns and mitigation strategies.
Conduct risk assessments and prepare contingency plans to manage financial uncertainties.
Liaise with stakeholders across various departments, including engineers, designers, and procurement specialists, to ensure cost considerations are effectively integrated into project planning and execution.
Maintain proficiency in relevant cost estimating software and project management methodologies.
Contribute to the development and improvement of cost control procedures and best practices within the Nuclear Projects department.
About you:
As a Cost Consultant your skills and qualifications will include:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., quantity surveying, construction management, engineering, finance) or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a cost consultant within the defence, nuclear, or major infrastructure sectors.
Proven ability to develop and manage complex cost estimates for large-scale projects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous approach to detail.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
Full UK DV Clearance with continued eligibility is mandatory .
