Creative technologist Teacher

Would you like to empower children by helping them understand how the technology they use every day works? Are you passionate about education and creative coding? We are looking for teachers and educators who want to inspire children to express their creativity through the language of code.

Job description

We are a young, growing company based in West London who teach a creative approach to computation at a growing roster of London schools. Our current courses focus on teaching the fundamentals to programming using Scratch, Processing and Python. We are also developing further resources for mobile platforms, web tools and more advanced programming environments, including coding for Minecraft!


Your responsibilities would include:

1. Engage children through teaching them to code at after school clubs and during school holidays in central London.
2. Work with educators and teachers to develop their understanding of coding, enhancing computer literacy.
3. Taking responsibility for the progress of a class of primary-age pupils.
4. Using the supplied teaching resources in a way that caters for the needs of the whole ability range within the classes.
5. To find creative ways to link coding to the main UK teaching syllabus, both Key Stage 1 and 2.
6. Providing feedback to schoolteachers, parents and carers on a pupil's progress at the end of each course.
7. Working with others to plan and coordinate teaching materials.


Main skills and requirements:
1. Previous experience of teaching primary age children or teaching computing or ICT desirable.
2. A basic understanding of the concepts of computer science and some knowledge of certain programming environments for primary age children, such as Scratch or Lego Wedo, as well as more advanced programming languages such as Python or Java would be an advantage.
3. Ability to motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentations.
4. You have the ability to maintain discipline in the classroom.
5. Interest in the arts. A big part of our offering is a creative approach to coding. It would be beneficial if you have an interest in the arts and creative tools.
6. An approachable, personable self-starter.
7. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.

This is a flexible freelance role and would be ideal for recent graduates or current students who is passionate about creative computing. We are looking for experts and innovators who want to inspire the next generation of technology users and creators.
