Special Yoga Foundation (SYF) is a charity which was formed to provide yoga as a therapeutic intervention for children with special needs. We consider all children special and know that no label can define or limit a child’s potential for positive change.
SYF works with the children and their families to deliver our Special Yoga methodology, bringing healing and allowing the child to realise their potential as individuals.
Our values are based on a strong yoga philosophy, working from a spiritual foundation. We believe in transparency and openness as a charity and the core yogic principles of non-violence, non-judgement and compassion.
SYF is a rapidly-expanding, effective and exciting early stage charity with a mind-set focused on rapidly furthering our cause. We are a tight knit team, all believing in the cause, enabling yoga to be provided to many, many children and their families around the globe. Most importantly, we have a lot of fun doing what we love!
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone skilled in writing grant applications to work with our team to present viable funding proposals. An interest in yoga and children with special needs would be an advantage.
Reports to: Head of Fundraising
Location: Kensal Rise/Kensal Green
Time commitment: 3 days per week
Tasks:
- To provide fundraising support at Special Yoga Foundation.
- Working with the Head of Fundraising, support the Fundraising activity as a volunteer or intern by writing grant applications to potential funders, initially under the guidance of our Head of Fundraising.
- Carrying out research into grant funding organisations to find potential matches with our projects.
- Developing relationships and working with corporates within their corporate socia responsibility (CSR) initiatives and other fundraising activities.
- Building relationships with trusts, foundations and other charities who provide funding for charities.
- Applying for funding from corporates or other agencies, such as government, Sport England, etc.
- Measuring and reporting on fundraising activities. This includes the production of a monthly report of fundraising activities and achievements against our goals, for the board of trustees, for the team and for publishing online.
Skills & Qualities needed:
- Experience of grant writing
- Excellent written communication
- Ability to communicate to different audiences
- Ability to build project cases using supplied information
- Demonstrable experience of working on your own initiative
- Confidence in working with people of all ages and abilities.
- Innovative and flexible approach to your work, bringing an element of creativity to SYF.
- Knowledge of Microsft Office, as well as online tools such as Gotomeeting, Skype, etc.
- An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
- An interest in yoga
