About the role

In this role you’ll effectively develop, implement and maintain the strategic approach to all aspects of regulatory compliance  on behalf of the UK&I business.  Providing practical advice, delivering effective solutions and ensuring that all UK&I employees are aware of the legal framework in which the business operates and the obligations in respect thereof.  The scope of this role will include all aspects of legal compliance, with a specific focus on UK & EU data protection legislation for all parts of the UK business and supporting the Group Data Protection Officer; legislative obligations relating to AML and CTF as they impact on the UK Retail network and Foreign Exchange operation and UK and EU Competition legislation, Anti-Bribery and Corruption and our Group Code of Conduct.

 

What will you bring to the role?

  • A relevant degree 
  • Significant compliance and commercial experience, preferably in a consumer environment
  • English qualified lawyer with proven post qualification experience having trained and/or worked in a UK law firm and/or in-house in a UK listed company
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to work under own initiative
  • Resilient and able to work at a fast pace whilst managing multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Analytically astute and able to demonstrate an understanding of how one issue may be part of a much larger system, able to handle situations and problems with innovation & creativity
  • Excellent technical legal knowledge with a keen commercial focus
  • Adept in combining compliance and risk management requirements with delivery of an ambitious business transformation agenda
  • Strong financial awareness, able to control costs and thinks in terms of profit, loss and added value
  • Keen focus on customer satisfaction and delivery of high quality compliance (incorporating legal aspects) service to the business segments/markets
  • Knowledge of data protection requirements in Europe highly desirable
  • Experience of working in a travel or other relevant retail organisation would be useful, but not essential
  • Experience of preparing and / or delivering training and advice to various business areas would be useful
