Warehouse Maintenance Operative - full-time - Exeter

Job description

As a dedicated Warehouse Maintenance Operative, you’ll take care in ensuring our equipment is always maintained to the highest standard. You’ll play a key role supporting and assisting the maintenance team with key maintenance tasks across our Regional Distribution Centre and network of stores.This role will require initiative and a flexible working pattern including lates, nights and weekends.

What will you do?

  • Assisting the Maintenance Manager to ensure that all statutory and internal service schedules for equipment are undertaken
  • Conducting an ongoing service schedule for Store Mechanical Handling Equipment
  • (MHE) and ensuring records are maintained
  • Ensuring that all RDC systems, such as lighting, refrigeration and heating, remain in good working condition
  • Ensuring all equipment breakdowns in the RDC are fixed in the most efficient,accurate and effective manner
  • Ensuring that company procedures are followed by all employees
  • Encouraging a proactive approach to Health & Safety in the RDC
  • Controlling and developing working practices across the RDC in order to increase productivity and efficiency levels
  • Assisting the Maintenance Manager to ensure that departmental targets are met

What will you need?
  • Motivated and positive in all aspects of work with the ability to use their own initiative
  • Excellent collaboration skills, but also the ability to work independently
  • A high comfort level working with moving equipment
  • A flexible can-do attitude
  • An eye for detail
  • A sense of pride in a job well done
  • A strong multi-tasker with the ability to prioritise conflicting deadlines
  • Fully flexible with regards to working evenings, weekends and nightshifts
  • Previous experience or expertise in maintenance tasks is desirable but not essential
  • Relevant Qualifications are desirable (i.e. NVQ, BTEC) but are not essential
