Employment Advisor in London

The French Centre (Centre Charles Péguy) is a charity trust, established in 1954, supervised by the Centre d'Echanges Internationaux (C.EI) and subsidized by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

What are you going to do:

With a network of 500 employers and around 300 job offers that we propose every week, in 2016, we welcomed around 700 new members, 90% of whom found a job directly through our services.The Centre Charles Peguy is currently looking for a full time Employment Advisor Intern for our office based in London.

Our mission is to welcome and assist French speaking adults seeking to settle in London in their administrative formalities and their search for employment and accommodation.

The internship is for 4 to 6 months starting from September/October 2017.

Your responsibilities / role:

  • Handling the reception desk, welcoming and orientating French speakers looking for a job in London (by phone, face to face and email)
  • Interviewing people one to one, to discuss career options
  • Providing advice on CV, applications, job hunting and interview techniques
  • Evaluating the level of English of the new members
  • Making sure that the skills and abilities of the applicants are appropriate to the profile required for the position
  • Maintaining and developing the Center's relationship with employers
  • Organizing and leading workshops and mock interviews
  • Dealing with different queries about living in London
  • Helping and advising candidates with administrative procedures
  • Advertising vacancies by drafting and placing adverts
  • Managing registrations and scheduling interviews
  • Writing the monthly newsletter
  • Maintaining external communication (blog, Facebook)
  • General administrative duties

What we offer:

  • Salary: £ 400 per month.
  • 4-6 Month Internship – Employment Advisor
  • The internship is for 4 to 6 months starting from September/October 2017.

What we ask:

  • Minimum degree: Bachelor Degree in HR
  • Minimum work experience: Customer service experience
  • An advanced level of French is required.
  • Ideally you have a Bachelor degree in HR, communication or similar, but we will consider other backgrounds depending on your personality
  • You are dynamic, communicative and reliable
  • Good relationship skills required
  • Advanced in French and at least an intermediate level of English
  • You have a first experience in a customer service position
  • You have an interest in working in the voluntary sector and a desire to learn
