St Mary's Music Hall, Walthamstow, is looking for an intern in North London

We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen to join our team as an intern. Aimed at those seeking to develop a career in events management or music promotion, the role will involve working one day a week with the team, typically a Thursday, and some work to then be carried out through the week remotely. You will also be working on the bi-weekly live events.

8 - 12 hours per week

What are you going to do:

St. Mary's Music Hall is a new and exciting music and cultural space with a 350 capacity in the heart of Walthamstow. Situated in a working 12th century church (recent recipients of a £1.6m Heritage Lottery grant) the venue has a beautiful acoustic and showcases the best in folk, jazz and contemporary musics through bi-weekly concerts. In 2018 SMMH is exploring the theme of Music and Migration, working particularly alongside the local Polish and Romanian communities to develop concerts, talks and workshops.

We are also currently working with another church, St. John's in Leytonstone, to turn it into the second North London Music Hall in early 2018, and programming is already in progress for next year.

You will also be working on the bi-weekly live events.

You will also have the opportunity to gain experience in various aspects of music administration and promotion, including marketing, finance, and general office administration.... with particular focus on;

  • Website – updating content and helping to devise online strategy
  • Social media – developing content, scheduling posts, audience development
  • Helping at live events – coordinating the door, artist liaison
  • Liaising with musicians and management for information relating to promotions and to live events
  • The candidate will have to work with a specific focus on graphic design and the development of visual assets for St Mary's such as flyers, posters, FB banners etc.
