About The Role

We are looking for an ambitious Online Buying Manager to join our Online team on an 18 month secondment. Reporting to the Head Of Online - Service Delivery, you’ll control our online offering for your category to ensure that we attract and retain customers, while driving sales and margin.

 

What will I do in the role of Online Buying Manager?

  • Champion, lead and support the development of our Online business, developing our offer through industry leading customer service

  • Deliver the Online profit & loss for your categories (sales, margin and average item price)

  • Select the right range for customers, commercial performance and operational efficiency, including Online exclusive products

  • Conduct margin deep dives to increase knowledge on what products to drive or add within a range to drive £ margin

  • Review and analyse taxonomy to maintain the agreed customer decision tree while maximising use of all available selling opportunities

  • Ownership of search terms and regular review of customer feedback and queries to ensure search terms are maximised

  • Work with different functions and suppliers to enhance creativity and launch events, shop in shops to encourage conversion to your categories

  • Contribute to the Food Online Operation Plan for all range, promotion and event activity


About You
 
 

What skills and qualifications do I need?

  • Previous experience of a fast paced commercial or trading environment

  • Retail / digital grocery market knowledge -  Understanding of supply chain and promotion mechanics as well as manufacturing and Food Online operations and the ability to derive value

  • Ability to work within Food Online Operational Plan and deliver against agreed milestones

  • Track record of consistent delivery against trading KPIs and performance analysis

  • Influencing and relationship building with proven track record of working cross functionally to influence at different levels throughout a business

  • Retail / digital grocery market knowledge -  Understanding of supply chain and promotion mechanics as well as manufacturing and Food Online operations and the ability to derive value
