Part time Personal Assistant and childcare support to a disabled woman, 4-10 hours per week As this job involves personal care elements for a woman, it is a genuine occupational requirement that applicants are not men. Your role would be an extremely valuable one, assisting me to live independently on a day-to-day basis. Tasks usually revolve around assisting me to get up in the morning and assisting me to care for my baby, though the role is very varied.
To take on this role you would need to be resident in Birmingham or nearby all year round, including in the university holidays.
It would be ideal for a postgraduate arts research student with flexible availability.
You must be reliable, trustworthy and willing to learn.
Confidentiality is essential.
No experience in the personal assistance or care sector is necessary.
Experience with infants would be helpful.
The number and timing of hours is yet to be confirmed but would likely involve between 4 and 10 per week, and would ideally include one regular weekday morning (shift of between 2 and 3.5 hours) and other afternoon and evening shifts (between 1 and 2 hours), as well as weekend mornings at least every third weekend. There would be some flexibility regarding what hours the successful candidate worked, according to their schedule and other commitments.
Pay is £9.80 per hour for weekdays, £11 per hour for weekends, and more for cover for other PAs and emergency call outs.
Ability to travel to Selly Oak (Weoley Castle side) is essential, as is being comfortable around cats.
