Junior Database Administrator

Do you like the idea of building a robust and performant database layer using the latest tech?
DBAs have very different challenges to coders. Coders build the trains; DBAs build the tracks. Having excellent database engineers is critical to viagogo’s infrastructure. Now is a fantastic time to be a DBA, Microsoft have moved to yearly releases of SQL and we do our best to understand and leverage the right tech to provide an always on, 24x7 mission critical database layer.
What do we look for?
Someone who loves technology, has a dedication for building reliable infrastructure and a passion for databases. Conventional wisdom often gets turned on it’s head at viagogo so our DBA embraces lifelong learning. Microsoft are releasing new products all the time and we are always looking for the pragmatic answer to the question ‘How can we solve this problem’.
You’re also ready to respond out of hours when the database layer calls for help, and you’ll do everything in your power to minimise the amount of times it needs to send out an SOS. You’ve shown you can keep your cool in an emergency and you’re comfortable working with high transactional throughput as well as big data & data warehousing.
