About the role

We have an excellent opportunity to join our IT team based in one of our offices either in Peterborough or one of our European offices. We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Analyst to assist in the day to day operations and maintenance of their vendors Data Centre environments.  The individual will have an established background in Data Centres and be proficient in all DC activities, primarily vendor management, support, and maintenance.  The successful candidate will be required to work both independently and as part of a team across a multi country delivery team of company and vendor resources.

 

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Managing 3rd Party vendors within a large Data Centre environment.
  • Ensure vendors carry out all operational tasks and duties as defined within existing contractual agreements.
  • Support vendors standard changes to defined systems in line with published predefined documented updates in line with company Change Management policies and procedures
  • Manage vendors to ensure compliance with a wide variety of process such as backup and recovery, capacity management, AV compliance, storage management, SLA compliance, incident resolution time.
  • Support the business project managers to transition solutions into the Data Centre operational support environment.
  • Ability to liaise with external and internal customers - excellent client-facing skills
  • Knowledge of install/move/decommissioning processes within a DC environment
  • Familiar with Data Centre infrastructure and the management, monitoring and maintenance of such infrastructure

 

Skills, know-how  and experience:

  • Proven experience of critical facility experience, including data centres
  • Knowledge of Data Centre IT Infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Data Centre Virtualisation Technology (VMWARE, HYPER-V), Windows, Red hat Linux, HP-UX Operating Systems, Databases, Middleware and Web Site Infrastructure
  • Knowledge of ITIL process (Incident, Problem, Change and Release)
  • Experience managing data centre vendors to SLA and KPI targets
  • Experience managing compliance programs and supporting compliance audits
  • Knowledge of monitoring and control systems both operational and administratively
  • Knowledge of Data Centre Operations including hardware installations, troubleshooting and problem analysis

 

Technical / professional qualifications:

  • ITIL Qualified (v3)
  • MCSE \ CompTIA Linux+ (preferred)
  • Data Centre Certification (preferred)
