You are a proven leader who takes pride in the development of teams and you’re either educated to degree standard or equivalent. Or you can demonstrate experience of operating at a Senior Level. You have a proven track record of success in both operational and managerial roles with several years’ experience within a Senior Management position within logistics, preferable in a Retail or similarly FMCG environment.

Direct Reports: Team of Shift Managers, First Line Managers and c. 300 colleagues on site
Job Description
• Lead the people agenda for your area of the DC creating a highly engaging workplace that puts people at the heart of your decisions
• Enabling and championing excellent service to customers and fulfilment of SLA’s
• Accountable for all operational & daily aspects of the DC including resourcing to meet demand, health & safety, ensuring the operation consistently achieves the business KPI’s
• Lead the managers and colleagues alike in a consistent direction to achieve the DC vision “to be the best DC for the best pet shop in the world”
• Create strong team working and a consistent environment across all teams within Pets at Home including all key stakeholders across support office, SDC and transport, and in particular with equivalent role holders to improve cross-site consistency and drive site performance
• Lead continuous improvement, generating new ideas, sharing best practice and working as one team across the site
• Accountable for performance ensuring productivities of all areas are in line with DC budget and are cost effective with budget and P&L accountability
• Manage and develop the operational team to create a highly successful and engaged team
• Ensure a proactive approach to risk management and adherence to site health & safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment
Person Specification, Skills & Attributes
• Exceptional people management, leadership & coaching skills - open to new ideas, clearly directs and able to adapt leadership style
• Inspires others through your own energy and outlook, encourage your team to put pets, customers and colleagues at the heart of everything they do
• Passionate about achieving your objectives, results driven whilst living our values & driving performance
• Leads with integrity, earns trust, recognises development areas and displays humility
• Action orientated with the energy and tenacity to succeed in a fast paced environment whilst working with challenging systems
• General understanding of warehouse management systems (ideally JDA)
• Action oriented with a proven track record of managing and delivering change within a fast moving distribution environment.
• Has knowledge of and experience in mechanical handling equipment, together with all areas of a logistics environment
• Managed service level agreements (SLA’s) and key performance indicators (KPI’s.)
• Experience of managing service providers and contracts to support the running of the DC.
