What are you going to do:

I am a young professional woman with a significant physical disability who uses an electric wheelchair. I am currently looking for 4 - 5 more individuals to add to my small team of personal assistants to provide around-the-clock support in my own home.

The ideal candidate will be honest, extremely flexible and absolutely reliable. A good sense of humour and pleasant persona is also necessary in my home! It is also essential that you are somebody who is eager to learn and naturally intuitive.

My daily life centers largely around my career and so early mornings will be part of everyday life. Other than this, my own interests and hobbies outside of work are typical of somebody my age and lay in fashion and beauty, music, theatre and socializing with friends. As such, my appearance is of high importance to me. Due to my disabilities, I am heavily reliant upon my PA's for physical aspects of daily life such as dressing and personal care - so being handy with a pair of straighteners will swing heavily in your favor! The successful applicant will also need to provide assistance with housekeeping duties in addition to personal care (toileting, washing, dressing etc) and assisting with transportation. The flexibility to take on extra shifts on an ad-hoc basis to cover holidays and sickness at short notice would also go greatly in the candidate's favor.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Assisting with personal care
  • Assisting with cooking
  • Assisting with household upkeep
  • Accompanying and assisting with travel and transport

Benefits of the role include statutory sick pay, statutory annual leave entitlements, pension scheme enrollment, own room, Wi-Fi, heating, gas, electric, food, travel and water expenses all covered. There will be time during your working week that you will not be required to assist me but will still receive full pay. This will be at least 28 hours a week of paid free time.

From past experience, the successful candidate has been one that I have got along with on a human level, rather than being selected solely on the experience and qualifications they have to offer. I will not get in touch with people who simply send me their CV as this position requires more than just qualifications or experience alone.
If you think you have what it takes to provide high-quality care (to my high-maintenance self!), please apply. Experience isn't necessary as very specific on the job training will be given, however, an open mind and willingness to learn is essential.

To apply, please send a paragraph about yourself and why you think you would be an ideal candidate to help me to maximize my independence. Driving license desirable but not essential. Successful candidates will be invited for an interview.

What we offer:

This is a live-in care position with flexible shifts. You will be required to work varied shifts inclusive of evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

WITHOUT OVERNIGHTS. The first shift would be 6am-9am followed by a shift from 6pm - 10:30pm. This would be daily from Monday - Friday 9am (except Wednesday where you would be required to work all day). This works out as follows:

Tuesday - 7.5 hours
Wednesday - 13.5 hours (9AM - 10:30PM)
Thursday - 7.5 hours

In total, this would be 39 hours per week and although hourly rates do not apply to this position, overall it works out at rate of £8.65 P/H, so £337.50 per week. These days can be split out over multiple PA's if required. These hours are also subject to change, and there will be times when you will be required to work earlier/later.

WITH OVERNIGHTS. From 7pm/8pm Sunday to 9am Friday at a block rate of £375. The overnights are mainly for convenience purposes to save on travel time & also ensure I can get to work on time. I will not require any assistance during the night and thus this will not be regarded as working/waking nights unless in exceptional circumstances.

WEEKENDS. Weekend shifts would start between 4 & 5PM on Friday's and finish between 5 & 8PM on Sunday's. This would be paid at a block rate of £150 per weekend. The weekend shifts can be split over 4 P/A's if required (1 weekend per month).
