Head of UK Direct Tax in Peterborough

This role will be based in Peterborough 2 days a week. The remaining 3 days will be based in London.

We are currently looking for a Head of UK Direct Tax to lead and transform the UK direct tax team, together with the associated tax compliance, forecasting and reporting processes so that tax matters for all the UK-based Thomas Cook businesses are appropriately managed.

Key accountabilities:

• Transformation of delivery of UK tax compliance across all of TC UK-based operations
• Development of UK tax forecasting model
• Country by country and external tax reporting
• Transfer pricing documentation
• Responsibility for SAO & DPT compliance
• UK tax adviser to business and Group projects
• Lead ownership of relationship with HMRC (incl, tax audits)
• Management of direct tax team

   

  Skills and experience:

• Experienced tax professional with strong accounting skills
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Good project management skills
• Experience of HMRC negotiations
• Track record of transformation

   

  Preferred:

• Working in a listed plc environment
• Solution-focused mindset
• Tax reporting skills

   

Technical / professional qualifications:

• Accounting/corporate tax qualification
