The Volunteering Activity Worker is an important role in the ELHAP integrated staff team and is responsible for the direct support, supervision and monitoring of volunteers on ELHAP projects. The Volunteering Activity Worker will provide the day-to-day support and guidance to the ELHAP volunteers; role modeling best playwork practice, working in partnership with the integrated staff team and helping to develop volunteers skills, knowledge and experience.
About the role
ELHAP has been running a very successful volunteering project for many years which we are
now expanding and developing. You'll be recruiting
and supporting volunteers to work with children, young people and adults on our various projects.
Your job will be to engage and motivate our volunteer team as well as develop the volunteer project. You'll be a role model of good practice and it'll be your job to make sure our volunteers are
given the best possible support and guidance, as well as always ensuring they feel engaged and appreciated. You will be working directly on the playground and will actively participate in all aspects of the day-to-day playground work.
About you
To get the most out of the role you'll need to be brilliant at managing a varied, evolving workload. You'll have confident presentation and communication skills. Naturally, you'll need experience in supervising or mentoring people and if this was in a care or childcare setting even better. You'll be up to speed with good practice legislation, equality and diversity and child protection. You really must be happy to get messy, muddy and be outside in all weathers.
About us
ELHAP is one of only eight adventure playgrounds for disabled children and young people. For over 40 years we have provided fantastic play experiences to many thousands of disabled children from across North East London and Essex. We are an independent charity in a unique
and magical setting, unlike any others.
At ELHAP, we want to give volunteers the best possible experience and provide an important springboard to their future. We want people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved and be
inspired to volunteer.
