Job SummaryThe NextGen Traineeship is a 2‐year fixed‐term contract that provides hands‐on experience across multiple rotations within Aegon Asset Management's investment and operations teams. Trainees develop both technical and behavioural skills, participate in real‐world projects, and receive mentorship from senior professionals.
What the Role Provides
Diverse rotations across divisions to broaden skill set and industry knowledge.
Structured training covering behavioural skills such as personal branding and relationship management, and technical skills such as AI and Excel.
Capstone projects that challenge and enhance practical investment skills.
Mentorship and support from experienced professionals.
Responsibilities
Support trade lifecycle activities, operational oversight of outsourced providers, reconciliations, issue management, and control frameworks across the investment operations function.
Build understanding of investment operations processes and the importance of robust risk and control environments.
Support delivery of high‐quality client service through reporting, data management, onboarding activities, and operational support.
Develop knowledge of how operational teams support client relationships and commercial outcomes.
Assist with business change initiatives, including regulatory programs, process improvement, and technology‐enabled transformation projects.
Support project delivery, change management, and continuous improvement within a regulated environment.
Contribute to secure, resilient, and modern technology services across engineering, service management, architecture, and data enablement.
Support information security processes, governance, and risk management activities.
Assist in building a culture of security awareness and understanding data protection.
Support global client experience initiatives through data insights and operational support.
Provide reporting, planning, and operational oversight to the COO function, ensuring efficient and safe operation.
Qualifications
Recent graduate or nearing completion of a degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical or financial discipline.
Clear interest in investments, finance, and operations, demonstrated through internships, placements, project work, or extracurricular activities.
Proactive, can‐do mindset with initiative and ownership; adaptable to fast‐paced, evolving environments.
Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across teams and geographies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence to articulate ideas clearly and engage with colleagues at all levels.
