About The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced  Site Manager  for our J41 logistics operation  based in  Wakefield.  

We are seeking a strong and resilient leader who drives performance through people. You will engage, lead and develop your site leadership team to deliver excellent standards of service and availability for our customers, delivering against all site productivity, cost and performance targets.

Since opening in 1988, our J41 warehouse capacity has grown from 400,000-square feet to 1.2 million-square feet, and now houses over 1300 colleagues. We provide fresh and frozen food, ambient goods, bread and more to 194 stores, sending out between 2.7 to 5 million cases every week and delivering over 300,000 cases a week for our manufacturing teams. 
About You

Being the most senior person on site, you will have full autonomy to deliver your plan and vision in line with the Morrisons Ways of Working, you will also:

  • Lead the onsite senior management team and ensure the continued development and success of the site
  • Manage people and performance proactively to meet stretching targets
  • Engage the whole site management team and colleagues of all levels in logistics, finance, VMU, HR, external agencies, suppliers and retail management
  • Manage costs, operational workload and ambitious change programmes
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement creative and sustainable solution.

We are looking for an experienced and credible people manager with IR negotiating experience, you’ll also need to have:

  • Extensive operational site management in a logistics or manufacturing environment or a relevant area supplemented by training in logistics
  • Experience in managing a large warehousing team and operation successfully and with attention to health & safety
  • Experience of forging internal relationships and driving site engagement
  • Sound understanding of using financial and other monitoring data
    Keen commercial acumen and ability to understand how to measure commercial performance
  • Excellent coaching and feedback skills
  • Experience of Unionised environments
