Business Development Associate, London (Field Based)

Job description

Staples are looking for a Business Development Associate to join our expansive field based team in London. The successful applicant will be focused on new business wins, experienced with face to face interaction with clients as well as over the phone. The role involves driving new business and growing your network in the mid-market sales environment. Experience of sales force beneficial. Salary competitive plus benefits.

 

 

Job Purpose

 

To identify, target and win new business through pro active cold calling within the mid market sales sector

To retain and Grow customers won or inherited within a defined geographical area

To sell Company products and services within the mid market sales sector in line with Company targets and KPI’s

 

Critical Results

  •  All new customer targets are achieved or exceeded
  • All sales KPI’s are met or exceeded
  • Required administration work, e.g. customer record cards and activity reports are kept up to date
  • Activities are documented in Salesforce.com and are accurate and complete

 

Responsibilities

  • Proactive identification, targeting and acquiring of new business through phone and field based cold calling
  • Scheduling and attending face to face meetings with key decision makers and influencers to win new business
  • Use consultative selling skills to identify customer needs and develop value added proposition and pricing development in line with Company standards, policies and procedures
  • Selling a wide portfolio of products and services
  • Deliver and maintain high standards of professionalism, conduct, customer service and customer administration at all times
  • Working with team members to facilitate the transition of account responsibility, ensuring accurate and cost effective implementation
  • Processing of orders inline with Customer Service processes
  • Liaise with Customer Service personnel to ensure new customers receive best service

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Education and Experience: 

  • Self-motivated, with a desire to succeed and develop oneself
  • Proven track record in acquiring new business through proactive face to face cold calling
  • Proven track record in managing and developing a customer base face to face
  • Experience and understanding of business-to-business processes
  • High activity KPI background
  • Experience of selling a portfolio of products
  • Successfully delivering  targets consistently in a very competitive market place
  • Operating in a highly competitive, dynamic and ambiguous environment
  • A track record of continuous overachievement

 

Skills

  • Excellent communicator & active listener, both face to face, over the phone and in email communication. Both with internal and external stakeholders
  • Influencing buying at multiple levels
