About The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Procurement Manager - Service Provider to lead a team of Business Development Managers who are responsible for multiple complex categories and large budgets. You will take a leading role within Procurement and Wholesale, both in the development of our teams, and the Supply base, and with the wider business, to ensure we provide customers with products that they want to buy; which in turn will drive sales, profits and margin, for now and the long term.    
 

Accountabilities: 

Customer (internal and external)

  • Understanding all future opportunities for Service Provider, agreeing and ensuring the delivery of your teams margin and profitability targets, for now and  as part of a 3 year plan
  • Developing strong relationships with suppliers and wholesale partners to ensure trust is earned in the Service Provider offering
  • Delivery of competitive pricing to suppliers and wholesale partners
  • Work closely with suppliers to understand and determine the availability and to accurately forecast future demand for products
  • Collaboratively working with key stakeholders, including Technical, to ensure all issues are dealt with efficiently and effectively, and that Morrisons brand standards are met

    Colleague

  • Recruit, develop and manage a team of Business Development Managers to deliver personal goals and business targets
  • Develop strong relationships with senior stakeholders enabling you to influence the Morrisons teams across Procurement, Finance, Wholesale, Legal and Logistics
  • Through your team of Managers defining how to best use Morrisons resources to maximise sales and margin, in line with the overall Morrisons plan

    Operational

  • Leading your Business Development Managers to work in partnership with our suppliers and customers to develop and deliver the right range at the right price
  • Supporting your team to create 3 year category plans, and then securing confidence and buy in from the Leadership Team
  • The achievement of specific goals and the development of annual plans with your team that ultimately grows the new business (in terms of volume and margin)
  • Maximising profitable sales growth within multiple categories
  • Leading your team to ensure availability of all products supplied by working with suppliers in the right way
  • Contributing to Morrisons plan, and leading projects across multiple categories and teams, for the greater good
  • Foreseeing and planning strategies to manage and mitigate risks which will impact Service Provider
  • Ensuring all team members are trained on, and comply with, all GSCOP/Legal requirements and associated internal policies
About You

Role-specific knowledge, skills & experience: 

Knowledge

  • A specialist in your area, with a proven knowledge of the specific complexities, commodity pricing challenges, and sourcing models.  Your knowledge and experience in this allows you to define and deliver strategies to manage these distinct variables to ensure our customers have great quality, value and availability
  • Broad category knowledge and a demonstrable track record of improving sales and customer satisfaction

    Skills

  • The ability to balance the competing pressures across Service Provider and the finite resources within the business, to  maximise and deliver volume, sales and margin growth for the business, now and in in the future
  • The ability to gain and integrate feedback from colleagues and customers to maximise sales and margin for the category
  • The ability to create and execute and deliver a long term plan (up to 3 years)

    Experience

  • A strong track record in seeking customer perceptions and motivations to inform and drive improvements, and translate these into sales and margin for Morrisons in daily routines and a category plan
  • Significant experience and demonstrate success in leading, coaching and developing Managers across multiple categories
  • A proven track record in collaborating with and influencing, other teams, such as Supply, Technical, Suppliers, etc, to deliver targets
  • Experience in providing a reasoned escalation point for issues that the team and  colleagues in other teams may have around your category
  • A track of record effectively negotiating with suppliers to bring long term profit  growth
  • A track record  of creating, project managing and driving the benefits from a  longer-term business plan,  such that  it maximises sales and margin
  • Experience in managing multiple data points and stakeholders to develop reasoned responses to problems
  • A proven track record of trading, and coaching others to trade within, the constraints of trading standards,  legal compliance (including GSCOP) as well as Corporate Responsibility issues
Experience of using financial analysis and customer data to define and deliver a business plan, which delivers increased offer perception and profit
