About The Role

We’ve got a fantastic job for a Packaging Engineer to join our Wakefield Manufacturing site. Reporting to the Shift Manager – Engineering, You will provide technical leadership as the system and product specialist. To drive continuous improvements to the Bakery by optimising system performance and product quality, while driving strategic productivity and capacity solutions.

This role is working days 5 over 7 up to 48 hours per week.

Requirements of the Job

In this job as Packaging Engineer you will provide technical expertise to optimise line performance in terms of packaging. Working on various types of packaging equipment to include Ilapack, PFM, Record and Ulma flow wrappers, Dowsons baggers, tagging equipment, sealers, metal detectors and check weighers. You will also develop and deliver technical training in packing systems, machinery, quality and changeovers, serve as technical coach and mentor. You’ll ensure that new packaging trials and start-ups are supported and conducted effectively and improve system reliability (in conjunction with Engineering) and product quality (in conjunction with Technical). In addition you will provide support to projects or maintenance for capital improvements

About You

You’ll need to be qualified to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent, ONC mechanical/electrical engineering, BTEC level 3 in mechanical & electrical/electronic engineering) with a proven track record in an engineering and fault finding role gained from a FMCG environment (ideally the food industry). You’ll also have a good understanding of HACCP principles and ideally IEE qualification up to 18th edition wiring regulations would be advantageous.

Our current production at Wakefield Manufacturing contains 6 plants but this will soon to rise to 8 plants. We currently produce 1,200,000 sliced loaves, 1,000,000 baguettes, 2,000,000 rolls, 600,000 muffins per week!!  We have just opened our Naan and Pitta Line. The new plant will house our Crumpet and Pancake line! We have over approx 40SKUs and we are the only bakery in the Morrisons family.
