Support Worker in Brighton

What are you going to do:

I am a 20 year old female who has hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and seizures which are still being investigated. The hEDS causes symptoms such as loose unstable joints that dislocate easily, extreme fatigue, easy bruising, digestive problems and bladder problems. The POTS can cause severe dizziness and fainting. Due to all of this this, I have a lot of medical appointments with different consultants as well as regular physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. I also have high functioning autism which I can struggle to cope with when I am very tired.

Hours / Times of Work

I have 13 hours per week available and can be flexible to suit both of us, this can be discussed at interview. However you should expect some early mornings. I would consider employing more than one person to share the hours between them.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• To assist me with personal care tasks and maintaining a safe home environment
• To help me buy and prepare meals
• To assist me with household tasks such as heavier cleaning tasks
• To help me pace myself and manage pain levels as effectively as possible
• To support me in attending some appointments and completing physiotherapy exercises

Essential Requirements and Characteristics

• First Aid knowledge
• Common sense
• Good sense of humour
• Good communication skills
• Adaptable (my condition can change quickly)
• Available during university term times, it is preferable that annual leave will be taken in university holidays although this could be slightly flexible if plenty of notice is given.
• Female only due to personal care

Desirable characteristics

• Confident swimmer
• Enjoys cooking
• Driver, with access to a vehicle with business insurance
