Role:  Manager Commercial Airport Relations & Ground Handling Procurement

 

Location: 1x Based in Manchester with frequent travel and 2 – 3 days in Copenhagen and Frankfurt

                  1x Based in Copenhagen with frequent travel and 2 – 3 days in Manchester and Frankfurt.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Accountability for negotiations and contract management with airports and ground handling service providers to ensure cost and performance optimum services for Thomas Cook Group Airlines
  • Development and implementation of airport and ground handling charges models with airports and service providers (e.g. ground handling companies) to positively influence the Thomas Cook Airlines´ performance and cost position
  • Individual preparation of business cases and approval papers including comparative analysis, especially in handling and airport charges. Active participation in the budget process
  • Participate in the development of strategic concepts
  • Proactive support to deliver area and company targets within cost reduction and profit improvement programs
  • Key account to high level third party counterparts concerning ground handling and airports
  • Representation of Thomas Cook Airlines in relevant national (review boards, user committees, etc.) and international associations (IATA, IGHC, GHI, etc.) and working groups
  • Perform special tasks

 

  • Capabilities Profile – technical skills/knowledge, experience & track record.

 

  • Post graduate studies with at least a good degree, preferably in economics or aviation management including work   experience in the field of aviation or University-entrance diploma and at least 5 years of professional work experience in ground handling contracts and/or airport charges
  • Preferably very good knowledge of the aviation industry and aviation-relevant business
  • Good ability to work both independently and systematically with a high degree of motivation and teamwork. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. 
  • Quick apprehension, analytical skills, flexibility and strong business acumen
  • Strong argumentation and negotiation skills and assertiveness
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, other languages such as German, Spanish or Danish would be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of advanced features of MS Office (esp. MS Excel and MS Power Point)
  • Willingness to frequent business trips (and 2-3 times per week meet team in Germany)
  • Willingness to participate in Assessment Center
