Part-Time Media and Communications Assistant in Cambridge

The Institute of Directors is the UK's oldest business membership organisation and the East of England regional office is in need of assistance with their media and communications activities.

10 - 15 hours per week
Between £9.50 and £10.00 Per Hour

What are you going to do:

Supporting the East of England Regional Director in developing and researching information and communication strategies that present IoD to members and the public.

Duties:

  • General Admin
  • Research
  • Prepare and distribute press releases
  • Research and draft topical articles
  • Plan content and delivery on Twitter and LinkedIn profiles using dedicated tools
  • Manage brand identity
  • Monitor the public's opinions on clients and topical issues
  • Writes, edits, and produces newsletters, brochures, and other publications for members
  • Contact companies or individuals to organise events or attendance

Skills:

  • a solid understanding of the use of a range of social media platforms, particularly in relation to advertising/branding
  • strong editing and writing skills suitable for each platform, from knowing how to write a successful tweet to using effective storytelling techniques
  • creative skills for contributing new and innovative ideas
  • strong verbal communication skills
  • organisational skills, with the capacity to prioritise and work across multiple projects
  • the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • data analysis skills and statistical prowess to draw actionable insights
  • an eye for detail and the ability to work accurately
  • excellent team work and networking skills.

Qualifications:

5 GCSEs including a C or above in Mathematics and B or above in English Literature and Language.

Currently studying:

  • business management
  • marketing (particularly digital marketing)
  • media and communications
  • public relations

Extra information

This is a sub-contracted post so applicants will be asked to invoice the IoD on a monthly basis. Hourly rate is £10 per hour.

Applicants must also be able and willing to use their own laptop.

Role is based at the IoD office within The Bradfield Centre on Cambridge Science Park which is an exciting and busy co-working space.
