About the role

Tesco Maintenance have a great opportunity for a National Building Maintenance Surveyor to join our Maintenance Support team predominately covering the Southampton area. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing building maintenance standards and supporting the building maintenance strategy, conducting building surveys and managing related projects across our estate.

You will be responsible for
  • Carry out building related surveys and provide reports to support the field teams in both planned & reactive works.
  • Conduct and coordinate actions from surveys across the estate, preparing specifications for remedial works.
  • Support a Planned Maintenance regime for Buildings, developing detailed building maintenance best practices.
  • Help support the building fabric design in relation to how the building and monitoring of those designs and solutions.
  • Provide information to the business that allows estate to be managed strategically.
  • Provide technical knowledge in the maintenance of building fabric across a variety of building types to ensure this element of maintenance is controlled and offers value to business.
  • Work closely with other areas across maintenance support to ensure systems and practices related to building maintenance are developed and fit for purpose.
  • Manage projects related to improvement of building maintenance and Health & Safety - notably CDM.
  • Support a step-change from reactive to proactive that will require a standardised and pragmatic approach to maintenance programmes, projects and implementing solutions.
  • Ensure compliance on all matters related to building maintenance.
  • Ensuring design standards are in place and adhered to for all appropriate maintenance activities.
You will need

Essential Criteria:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience in property surveys & risk assessments.
  • Understand principles of design, including statutory requirements (CDM/Asbestos).
  • Experience of contractor management (reviews/budgets/quotes/contracts).
  • Stakeholder management.
  • Health & Safety training/ awareness.

Desirable Criteria

  • Degree in RICS accredited Building Surveying Course.                                                       
  • Experience in construction/works/design management.
  • Project Management & reporting.
