Nuclear Medicine Clinical Technologist Apprenticeship

Do you have an interest in the application of science and technology in healthcare? Do you possess good interpersonal and analytical skills? Would you like to pursue a well paid career with good prospects helping patients on a daily basis? Want to earn a salary while you train? If so, this could be the position for you! We're pleased to announce this rare and exciting opportunity to join our friendly, dedicated Nuclear Medicine team (part of the Department of Medical Physics and Bioengineering) as an apprentice Clinical Technologist.

We are a regional centre of excellence for Nuclear Medicine - our department is well equipped with state of the art technology including our own PET-CT Scanner as well as two dual-headed gamma cameras (both SPECT, one with diagnostic CT) and in-vitro counting facilities. The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the service throughout their apprenticeship with ample opportunity for research and development project work.

Applicants should be numerate, computer literate and possess at least two good A-Levels (Grade C or above), one of which should be in a scientific subject. As part of the apprenticeship, you will undertake a professionally accredited BSc (Hons) Degree qualification in Healthcare Science (Medical Physics Technology) and upon successful completion of the apprenticeship be eligible for entry on the professional register for clinical technologists (RCT). There may be an opportunity to join the department permanently at the end of your training but please note that your new found skills as a nuclear medicine clinical technologist will be in high demand as there is a national shortage of trained staff!
