Digital & Innovation Specialist - Developer in Bradford

We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a Digital & Innovation Specialist - Developer to join our team at our head office Hilmore House, Bradford. Working in the Digital & Innovation team you will be working on an exciting range of customer and colleague digital products. 

You’ll conduct the analysis, coordinate the design & development of software solutions to help achieve business objectives. Responsible for the development of your own and the wider team’s software quality you’ll work within industry standard methodologies and guidelines. 

As a Digital & Innovation Specialist - Developer you’ll be responsible for things like this:

• Work with key business stakeholders and develop knowledge of continuous improvement deliveries around key IT systems

• Responsible for delivery of personal workload and that of others when working within a team, peer reviewing software changes, monitoring and tracking inputs, deliverables and adherence to schedules and plans

• Present technical knowledge of coding standards for bespoke systems to the team

• Expert technical knowledge of 3rd party & bespoke applications

• Advise on the functionally of Morrison’s IT systems, both bespoke and purchased

• Display leadership skills through mentoring and coaching junior team members

• Approve innovative solutions & workarounds to meet project timelines & avoid slippage and impacts on wider business initiatives & processes.

• Present impact assessed software development and configuration changes and review mitigating actions to safeguard the production environment

• Recommend testing procedures and process to ensure quality of deliverable

• Understand the business case for changes

• Explain understanding of financial effects of poor quality throughout  the software development lifecycle

Identify issues with 3rd party performance on the project or development work and how this affects overall budgets

You’ll need skills and experience like this:

• Expert-level software development experience gained either within Morrisons or in similar large corporate establishment

• Deep understanding of the systems & applications you will be working on

• Significant understanding of the business processes applicable to the area within IT development that you are deployed

• To motivate others and be adaptable & able to work in an agile or waterfall manner

• Proven ability to study & learn new skills & keep current with latest IT trends and pass this on to other developers

• Proven ability to work and achieve within a fast paced environment; working in a “fleet of foot” way and responding positively and quickly to changing demands and priorities

•   Self-starter, competent at taking on assignments and consulting appropriate parties and acting as a point of escalation for technical issues where progress is impeded

•  Logical thinker able to gain buy in from others

• Clear and concise verbal & written communicator
