Volunteer Assistant Psychologist

Job description

A great opportunity to join a successful £440m turnover integrated NHS Foundation Trust. Our service portfolio includes mental health, intellectual disability and specialist mental health services, community physical health for both adults and children, prison health and our low, medium and high secure hospitals including Rampton Hospital. The Trust is also involved in a number of collaborations in research and innovation with the Institute of Mental Health, the University of Nottingham and other partners.

Our services are provided by 8,900 staff in hospitals, community settings and patients' own homes, predominately in Nottinghamshire, but services are also provided in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to become a Voluntary Assistant Psychologist. There are posts available at HMP North Sea Camp and HMP Whatton.

The Offender Health directorate in Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides Healthcare to seven prisons and an Immigration Removal Centre in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. These services include physical healthcare, mental healthcare, and intellectual disability and substance misuse services.

The Directorate also provides specialist treatment to personality disordered offenders at HMPs Whatton and North Sea camp (joint NHS/NOMS National Offender Personality Disorder programme). This is the area that we are looking for a Voluntary Assistant Psychologist for.

We are committed to working in partnership with prison services, other healthcare providers and our criminal justice system partners to improve health, support justice and reduce re-offending behaviour. The Offender Health Team truly believes it can make a difference to the lives of offenders by offering consistent, equitable, high quality and timely primary care, mental health and substance misuse services that are at least equivalent to contemporary health services delivered outside of Prison. We would like you to be part of this team. You should be enthusiastic, motivated patient focused and enjoy a challenge.
