The 90 week BSc (Hons) Midwifery Shortened Programme aims to produce competent, caring, research and evidence-based midwives, capable of delivering effective woman-centred care for mothers and their families within these contexts.
Midwives of the 21st century practice within dynamic, rapidly changing and diverse contexts and require personal, academic and professional skills to practice in an optimum way.
During the 90 week course, time will be split between London South Bank University Southwark and Barking Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust -Queen’s Hospital Romford and King Georges Hospital (Goodmayes).
On starting the course you will have:
- Active Adult Nursing Registration ( NMC Registration)
- Diploma in Adult Nursing
- Proven post registration experience
- Hold a Diploma in Higher Education or Degree or accreditation using APEL.
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalencies or IELTS 7.0
Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trust operates across two sites at Queen’s and King George Hospitals. The Trust serves a population of around 700,000, from a wide range of social and ethnic groups, making it one of the largest acute hospital trusts in England.
The state of the art, PFI built, Queen’s Hospital in Romford opened in December 2006. High risk obstetric led outpatient care is provided at both units, while intrapartum care is provided at Queen’s. We have a co-located low risk birthing unit within the hospital, with a 40% water birth rate. This will give you the experience of both low and high risk care within the acute hospital.
Students applying for this funded training post (bottom point band 5) should note that this training grant does NOT include tuition fees.
Appointed students would be eligible to apply for a Pre-registration programme loan to cover tuition fees.
