3D Modelling/Graphics - Work Placement | Work from home!
If you’ve already learned how to use 3D tools often used in film creation and gaming, this placement is an opportunity to gain some unusual industrial experience outside the usual applications. You’ll work (remotely) with our 3D body modelling and CG experts to help create the assets we base our tech on
What are you going to do:
- Creating realistic, natural poses of our avatars using Maya
- Improving our in-house software tools (Maya plugins) for avatar creation (e.g. adding cameras to visualisation frames)
- Creating studio geometries and different lighting environments to create great-looking light and shadows from our virtual model shots.
- Learn how 3D is really used in the industry

What we ask
- You should be registered as a university student
- Having some experience with 3D modelling is preferred but not essential
- Have access to a laptop & internet connection
- You must be self driven and able to motivate yourself to work from home

About Metail
Metail is a startup that aims (high!) to use technology to help the fashion industry find better ways of making clothes. We’re starting that by turning 3D digital clothing designs into true-to-life model photos of outfits on human models, using digital tech, image processing and computer vision.
The existing alternative to our all-digital approach is to make a physical sample, air-freight it around the world and photograph it on a model. By using our tech (EcoShot), brands can make better designs quicker (which means fewer garments getting binned because they don’t sell) and avoid all the environmental footprint of that existing process.
