Job description

On April 1st 2016 Greater Manchester took charge of our Health and Social Care. The GM Health and Social Care Partnership is the body made up of the 37 NHS organisations and councils in the city region, which is overseeing devolution and taking charge of the £6bn health and social care budget.

Our vision is“to deliver the greatest and fastest possible improvement to the health and wellbeing of the 2.8 million people of Greater Manchester”. The Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership team are building and implementing a number of key fixed term programmes over the next 3-4 years to make this vision real.

Do you want to work at the heart of our efforts to reduce the number of Covid-19 cases in Greater Manchester?

In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, Greater Manchester has been at the vanguard of establishing a local Contact Tracing model as part of the delivery of Level 1 of the national Test and Trace arrangements.

A key part of this has been the development of a Greater Manchester Integrated Contact Tracing Hub, in partnership with the 10 GM local areas and key partners such as Hospitals, Primary Care, GM Police and GM Fire and Rescue Service. This hub has been operational since 8th June 2020 and has focussed upon:

  • Contact tracing in relation to complex setting such as schools, primary care settings, large or high-risk workplaces, health and social care services and with underserved populations (i.e. rough sleepers, sex workers, asylum seekers).
  • Working with localities to ensure that consequence management / business continuity issues are addressed in relation to any settings-based contact tracing.

  • Working with localities to ensure that potentially vulnerable individuals or households are supported when required to self-isolate.

Further to the initial mobilisation of the hub, we are now looking to recruit a team of staff to deliver this function for at least the next 12 months. This will be a blended team working alongside staff from Public Health England (PHE). This role is available as a secondment or via a fixed term contract. Individuals applying for a secondment must have the agreement of their current line manager in advance of applying.

In the event of a high number of applications being received, we reserve the right to close this application process early and without prior notice so would encourage interested parties to apply early.

Interviews for this role will take place during the week commencing 3rd August 2020 and will take place remotely using Microsoft Teams. If you do not have access to Microsoft Teams please notify us in your application and we can offer Skype as an alternative platform.

Queries relating to these roles should be directed to gmhscp.contacttracing@nhs.net

This is a Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership post. Manchester CCG or Greater Manchester Combined Authority will host the employment of this post on behalf of the Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership (GMHSCP).
