Band 6 Teenage Cancer Trust Senior Staff Nurse

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our Teenage Cancer Trust Unit, caring for young people aged 13-19 years.

You must be an experienced band 5 or band 6 nurse (paediatric or adult) with haematology/oncology experience. You will have the opportunity to share and develop knowledge and skills in caring for a range of solid tumours and haematology cancers. You will care for patients undergoing a range of treatments including bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

You will be required to demonstrate experience and skills in this area and have leadership, development and organisation skills in order to coordinate safe efficient delivery of care to this patient group.

Our unit is committed to the care of young people going through a difficult time in their lives; we work very closely with the Teenage Cancer Trust ensuring we treat the young person and not just the cancer. The unit has a group of dedicated nurses who aim to make the unit a pleasant environment. We thrive on team work and are the finalist for the teamwork award in the trust.

UCLH was the first hospital in the UK to develop a teenage cancer unit in 1990 and remain the biggest inpatient unit in Europe. Since then, the TYA service has grown in size, activity and complexity and enjoys international recognition. The UCLH TYA primary treatment centre provides world class cancer care in state-of-the-art age appropriate facilities, with the holistic needs of every patient at the forefront of all aspects of care, supported by an expert and extensive multidisciplinary team. We are also the leading centre for adolescent bone marrow transplantation.
