We are 10th in the world for production excellence in game design and development as well as 11th in the world for top development schools in 2020.

We work with an impressive list of industry partners to help design and mentor our courses. Artists from many AAA games developers such as Creative Assembly, Sony Rare, Rocksteady and Improbable as well VFX companies in the Realtime space such as Framestore contribute feedback to our students. Many of our learners' study in the heart of London's creative scene in our state-of-the-art facilities using professional tools and techniques for a real-life studio experience. Your Opportunity

  • Salary up to £55k depending on experience

At Escape Studios we are excited to be hiring a Game Artist Tutor to teach courses to undergraduate, postgraduate and professional learners from diverse industries. You’ll join our team responsible for the development and delivery of Game Art education programmes, teaching the foundations of Game Art and helping students understand Art Direction, establishing good practice in modelling, texturing, implementation in engine. You will also get to work at higher levels depending on your learners’ experience. You’ll brief learners on industry-based projects and guiding them as individuals or in groups, providing formative feedback as well as summative reviews. Along with assessing your learners’ progress and marking, you’ll have time devoted to learn our curriculum, deliver it and contribute to its development.

Our engine of choice is Unreal Engine 4 and we use Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Zbrush, Reality Capture, Quixel and Photoshop amongst others. ongoing time for your own learning, development and industry research is important to us so we can stay in line with industry standards. If you have worked on a released game and are interested in passing that knowledge on to our game art students, then this is a perfect opportunity for you!

You’ll be working closely with the Head of Games and our passionate team of Tutors to deliver rewarding game art classes and learning materials. You’ll deliver blended-learning training courses to students: in a classroom environment, through online platforms and, when necessary, to individuals and professional clients. You will provide one–to-one feedback, coaching, show-reel clinics and support to students with a range of backgrounds and abilities. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing research and development of our course content, industry tools and techniques to ensure relevance of our training and education programmes.

Our Successful Candidate

We welcome applications from passionate Game Artists with experience on released games or with experience in Realtime for VR, or other Realtime environments. It would be an advantage to have experience working with any of the following packages: Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, Photoshop, Zbrush, Unreal Engine 4 or Quixel.

We are interested in professionals with game art industry experience. We welcome portfolios that showcase your skills in creating stunning game art environments, props, lighting, textures and sculpts.

As Game Artist Tutor, it would be an advantage to have some teaching experience as you will be supporting learners and explaining complex artistic and technical principles. You’ll have an interest in creating learning materials and delivering these through blended learning: both face-to-face and through online teaching.
