An opportunity has arisen for a Band 2 Healthcare Assistant to work in the Discharge Lounge. This is a busy environment that supports the safe, timely discharge of patients from the wards and for patients awaiting collection to their place of residence.

The primary function of the Discharge Lounge is to provide timely availability of beds enabling patient flow and safe discharges from hospital to home, improving patient flow across the Trust.

The Discharge lounge service operates 7 days per week 08:00-20:00 hrs inclusive of bank holidays.

As a Healthcare Assistant you will provide care to patients under the direct supervision of registered staff. You will have good interpersonal skills and want to assist patients in a hospital setting. We require an enthusiastic individual who can work flexibly within the team.

If you do not have previous care experience you will be required to undertake the core skills program within 3-6 months of appointment. All Healthcare Assistants will be expected to undertake NVQ level 2 in care as soon as it is practicably available.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a written competency assessment.
