Do you want the opportunity to work with a forward-thinking, fresh produce farm in the East of England? We are delighted to be working on a Farm Manager role with a successful root veg and arable farm.
The Business
P.G Rix Farms Ltd grows onions, potatoes, sugar beet and cereals over 6,000 acres on the Suffolk / Essex border producing 70,000 tonnes of crops. The family-owned business, established over 60 years, is growing from strength to strength. Due to retirement, they are now looking for a Farm Manager to join the team.
The Role
You will be one of two farm managers and primarily be responsible for the root vegetable farming operation within the business. Establishment, growing, irrigation and harvesting will all fall into your remit. You will be managing the day to day operation on the root vegetable side of the farm, ensuring all employees are working efficiently to produce the highest quality yields. You will be involved in and support all aspects of the farming operation. Communication is key, as you will be regularly liaising with the Managing Directors, agronomist, and the other Farm Manager.
You
You will have a higher level qualification in agriculture and have had leadership experience working with fresh produce. You will be looking to take a step up and build a long-standing career with P. G Rix Farms. You will demonstrate aptitude in farming systems and be confident in all aspects of sustainable crop production. You will have strong communication skills, managing skilled operators, placement students and seasonal staff at peak times, Health and Safety, and the welfare of the team is essential.
