About the team

Florence ward is a 15 bedded mixed gender acute inpatient unit which was originally opened in April 2020 as a Covid positive acute admission ward. Florence has been operating as an acute inpatient ward since mid-May 2020 till end of October 2020 due to lack of demand for Covid positive beds. Florence has now been steeped up as an acute Covid ward from early November as demands for Covid beds continues to increase. Florence ward is running as a hot isolation unit for Covid positive patients now. This could be reverted to acute if no further demands for Covid beds.

About the role

The role involves direct clinical care, the use of therapeutic engagement, caring for patient on daily basis and attending to patient’s needs. The role also involves working collaboratively with patients and MDT and reporting to the Nurse in charge. You will be involved in caring for patients with a range of mental health conditions as well as having appropriate knowledge and ability to monitor patient’s physical health accordingly. Most importantly, the role requires working jointly with service users to understand and meet their needs whilst supporting their independence. Effective communication will be a key asset to get the best outcomes for team working, patient care and carer involvement.

All support workers will undertake the care certificate training to meet professional standards for this essential role.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high degree of interpersonal skills both verbally and non-verbally. A degree of flexibility in approach is essential along with a willingness to learn in an active ward environment.

About the location

We are based at Lambeth Hospital, 108 Landor Rd, Larkhall, London SW9 9NU

Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2). We also provide services and operate across other locations, such as London boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark; and substance misuse services for residents of Bexley, Lambeth, Greenwich and Wandsworth.
