The Role

You will join a team of MLA's who provide essential technical, clerical and administrative support to the scientific staff in the Blood Sciences laboratory and across Pathology.

 

You will assist Biomedical Scientists to provide an efficient and high-quality diagnostic service. You will efficiently and accurately record all clinical specimens onto the Laboratory Information System, and you will support the laboratory team by preparing and processing clinical specimens for examination and you will be trained to operate a range of automated analysers.

 

Some previous work experience in a diagnostic laboratory is not essential for this role but would be an advantage. The successful applicants will also need to be team players with good analytical, organizational, time management, I.T, communication /interpersonal skills; and great attention to detail.

 

The successful applicants will be provided with training as a bank shift worker and be expected to work shift patterns to cover 24/7 over the equivalent of 37.5 hrs a week on the monthly/annual roster. The applicants are required to attend work on day shifts to maintain essential training and competency in line with service quality standards. Some Sunday / Bank Holiday working may also be required in line with the needs of the service.
