Our client is a privately owned Information Technology provider based in the south of County Durham. Long established and very successful, they provide a wide range of support to their clients, from full design and installation, to proving kit, support, and maintenance contracts. They pride themselves in delivering outstanding service and value and have clients who stay loyal and do business with them year after year.
We have been asked to support their needs by recruiting a Third Line I.T Technician to support their wide portfolio of clients.
The role
You will work with a wide variety of hardware and software, and you will be responsible for repairing IT faults and helping to answer queries for customers using remote access tools.
Customer visits may also be required, so you must be prepared to travel to customers (largely based in the North East).
You will need to demonstrate strong technical knowledge, and be confident in communicating colleagues and clients alike, and be proficient in working to timescales.
As an ambassador of our client's business, you must be friendly and confident in dealing with end-users in a professional and friendly manner.
Key Responsibilities:
· Dealing with day-to-day support tasks, both on site and remotely using our client's remote support tools
· Supporting our client's team with new server and IT system deployments
· Ensuring all client calls are responded to professionally and in a timely manner
· Make use our client's internal job monitoring systems and ensure everyone is always up to date with work progress
· Meet agreed targets and timescales
· Maintain an excellent standard of customer service to clients
Skills and knowledge required:
· Technical knowledge of Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems including Windows 7/8/10
· Technical knowledge of Microsoft Server Operation Systems including Server 2008/2012/2016/2019
· Technical knowledge of Microsoft Technologies including but not limited to Exchange, Hyper-V and Active Directory
· Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Cloud services and technologies
· General knowledge and hands-on experience of IT principles and technologies such as DHCP, DNS, TCP /IP, Switches/Routers/Firewalls and virtualisation
· Excellent timekeeping and communication skills
· The ability to work calmly under pressure
· A willingness and passion to increase your IT knowledge and qualifications
· Full driving license and own transport essential
Certifications, qualifications, and experience required:
Industry certifications from Microsoft or Cisco are desired, as would be a Computer Science related degree.
Hands on experience in an IT support role of 5 years+ is preferred.
Previous work experience in a similar role would be an advantage.
The Package:
The successful candidate will receive a salary of £26-£32k depending on experience and qualifications.
You will be provided with a work laptop, mobile phone, and given time and guidance on furthering your IT knowledge and qualifications. You will also benefit from being enrolled on our client's health benefit plan.
Working hours are Monday to Friday and will be split between an office location and home working.
