We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our British Gypsum Engineering team, based at Sherburn. You will deliver key safety objectives and measures, whilst developing a proactive safety culture within the team. You will also deliver the maintenance strategy for the area of focus with respect to Mechanical/Electrical engineering reliability, and deliver relevant capital projects on time and within budget.
Key accountabilities for the Mechanical Engineer:
Deployment/improvement of HSE standards, policies and culture of their team.
Improve safety through SUSA discussion.
Risk Assessment's adding value for all tasks (OTJRA, TBRA, PUWER)..
Proactive engagement of safety improvement to meet Accident and Incident target of zero.
Manage contract and site labour during all maintenance activities.
Technical reliability.
Predictive and preventative maintenance for the plant inclusive of Mechanical/Electrical tasks.
Maintain area's CMMS planning system.
Use WCM tools to improve reliability.
People development and departmental effectiveness
Develop skills knowledge of engineering team through use of AFG's.
Ensures that they have capable people to deliver the maintenance standards in line with the highest HSE standards.
Team Working
Performance team, shift teams, engineering team and direct reports.
Collaboration between all above.
Deployment of the PM strategy.
PM compliance matrix activities.
Manage spend against budget and work towards cost improvements.
Being proactive ensuring always looks for opportunities to horizontally expand learnings.
What we're looking for in a Mechanical Engineer:
Education level minimum HND.
5 years' minimum experience maintenance knowledge.
Team player with experience in people coaching and good communication skills.
Experience of planning and analysing preventative maintenance tasks.
Safe and Logical approach to problem solving & failure analysis through use of Kaizen tools.
Hands on approach to maintenance issues would be desirable (ie Time Served Mechanical apprentice) The world of work is changing, and at Saint-Gobain we are open to new ways of working in order to attract talented people to our business.
