**THIS VACANCY IS ONLY OPEN TO PEOPLE CURRENTLY WORKING AT WORCESTERSHIRE ACUTE HOSPITALS NHS TRUST**

Are you a dynamic, enthusiastic, motivated, forward thinking individual with an interest in providing a high standard of care to patients within the perioperative setting?

Would you like to work towards registration as a fully qualified ODP by undertaking a degree level apprenticeship?

At Worcestershire Acute NHS Hospitals Trust we are offering an amazing opportunity to undertake an Operating Department Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship in association with Birmingham City University. As part of our vision to provide the best healthcare for our communities we are looking for talented and passionate individuals who share our beliefs and who want to grow with our organisation.

Operating Department Practitioners are vital members of our multidisciplinary team working within theatre departments. They ensure safe, effective, and holistic care throughout the patient’s perioperative journey and can also be found working in other areas such as A&E, Critical Care and Imaging Departments.  This apprenticeship is a new and innovative route to acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviours required across a range of areas of perioperative care.

For the duration of the Apprenticeship you will be employed and paid according to the Band 3 pay scale as an Apprentice ODP on a 3-year fixed term contract and you will be required to work as part of the operating department team on a full time basis - 37.5 hours per week working a range of shifts including weekends and nights. You will be fully supported to develop knowledge, skills and behaviours that will allow you to work in a dynamic, complex and changing healthcare environment.

On successful completion of the Apprenticeship you will be eligible to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council to enter the Register of Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) enabling you to apply for Band 5 ODP job opportunities within the Trust.

The 3 year course combines work-based and academic learning between one of the three hospital sites within Worcestershire Acute NHS Hospitals Trust and you will also experience working across county in all of our perioperative placement areas to gain wider experience.

Birmingham City University will provide this Apprenticeship, in which you will study for a BSc (Hons) in Operating Department Practice, incorporating the Integrated Degree Apprenticeship standards for Operating Department Practice. Course fees will be funded by the Trust’s Apprenticeship Levy.

Our Trust 4Ward values form a framework for a positive and supportive environment for our patients, visitors and staff. We believe that all candidates should be able to demonstrate and be equally committed in fulfilling these values to be successful in their application.
