Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust
Our Trust
Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust has been rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and our staff tell us that we are a great place to work.
We provide emergency and non-emergency services to the residents of East Surrey, North-East West Sussex, and South Croydon, including the major towns of Crawley, Horsham, Reigate and Redhill; a community of over 535,000 people.
At East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, we provide acute and complex services and a range of outpatient, diagnostic services whilst Crawley Hospital and Horsham in West Sussex and Caterham Dene Hospital and Oxted Health Centre in Surrey provide less complex planned services. East Surrey Hospital is also the nearest trauma unit for Gatwick Airport.
We are one of the best performing Trusts in England:

We are excited to announce our Paediatric Emergency Department is looking for a Paediatric Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our friendly, supportive and motivated team of Paediatric Nurses and Paediatric Practitioners.
Our Team is passionate about providing outstanding 24 hour Paediatric Emergency Care. In our modern and spacious department, we see approximately 35,000 children a year presenting with trauma and a wide spectrum of medical illness with mixed acuity.
The Department offers a structured Educational Programme, supported by designated Practice Development Nurses and a dynamic team of Clinical Practitioners who will support you in developing your knowledge and skills. Along with hospital based educational opportunities, the Hospital is affiliated with Brighton University and University of Surrey.
The Emergency Department is proud of our Emergency Practitioner and Advanced Clinical Practitioner pathways which are open to all senior staff wanting to progress to a senior nursing role. This is supported with a structured educational pathway and is managed by a dedicated team.

The Paediatric Emergency Service is staffed as a specialist area within the Emergency Department, it works closely alongside the Adult emergency service and is collaboratively linked with our Paediatric inpatient services. This in turn provides possibilities of rotation and flexible working across the Paediatric ward Outwood and the Children’s Assessment Unit, thus enhancing opportunities for career development and advancing your management experience across a paediatric service, we also encourage link working with dedicated specialist roles within the emergency department.
As a department we offer flexible working and all staff self-roster which allows for greater control over your off duty, as we are a 24 hour unit shift patterns will vary and will include day/night and weekend working.
The foundations of these close working relationships are rooted in the Trust values of ‘one team’, ‘compassion’, ‘dignity and respect’, and ‘safety and quality’ and its vision to provide ‘Outstanding Care’ for both the community we serve and its team of employees.
The high standard of patient care at East Surrey Hospital is reflected in our Friends and Family Survey results. These consistently place us within the top 20% of trusts nationally.
