This warm and supportive secondary school are looking to hire a passionate and dedicated graduate to begin their teaching career inside of an experienced and committed pastoral department, intent on giving the best emotional and academic support to their students who really need it.

– Graduate Paid School Experience

  • Work inside a warm and supportive secondary school
  • Located in Central Birmingham (B1)
  • Be part of dedicated and passionate pastoral team as a Personal Progress Tutor
  • Gain valuable knowledge and techniques from other pastoral staff
  • Work with a caseload of students who display barriers to learning
  • Monitor and set targets through focussed and tailored support
  • Organise and conduct your own 1:1 sessions
  • Work with both small groups and individual students
  • Paid £300-£325 per week, term time only until end of the academic year
  • Immediate start with interviews being organised on an ongoing basis
  • Role Expectations

  • Support students with emotional and social barriers to learning
  • Must be willing to support with classwork in a variety of subjects
  • Offer support and guidance throughout the sessions
  • Work on a 1:1 and small group basis and be able to effectively record data
  • Be patient and supportive of any issues or queries the student may have
  • To be considered you will need…

  • Minimum 2:1 degree
  • Experience working with young people, either voluntary or paid
  • Passionate and dedicated to your own career progression
  • Flexible regarding which core subject department you are supporting
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor your approach
  • Patience when dealing with challenging behaviour
  • An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS certificate is required for this role
