Engineering Insurance Graduate Scheme in Surrey

Engineering Insurance Graduate Scheme

4 - 40 hours per week

Job description

Responsibility? You bet. Right from the start, you'll be involved in interesting, challenging projects which make a real difference to our successful engineering insurance and inspection business. You'll specialise to become an underwriter. So what is an underwriter?

It's all about assessing which engineering risks are worth taking for the business? At what price and under what conditions?

These are decisions you'll make, after carefully assessing individual companies and negotiating terms and prices with brokers. Sounds a bit daunting? Don't worry, our two-year Engineering Underwriting scheme is designed to give you all the skills and technical know-how you need to become a successful underwriter and technical specialist of the future

We want you to get the opportunity to develop into a sector expert underwriter that works alongside our experts, helping to develop our underwriting and pricing strategy across a variety of lines of business, such as the construction, engineering and power sectors.

As a specialist engineering insurer we have a large and varied customer base, so you could be assessing risks for construction projects, or machinery equipment or even looking at emerging risks such as cyber or renewable energy.

Underwriting is at the heart of any insurance company, so developing your skills in this core area opens the door to a whole range of opportunities. For example Senior Underwriting, Technical Management, Pricing, Account Management - all with the potential to develop into senior leadership roles. The opportunities are as varied and broad as the business and your aspirations!

You need to have achieved or be on target for achieving upper second class or above in an Honours degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

A valid work permit for permanent work in the UK is also required as well as flexibility around our UK locations.

We are looking for graduates with strong communication and analytical skills, enthusiasm, confidence and a hunger to learn; graduates who want to be challenged and are ready to build a career at the heart of a world-leading insurance company.

Location: Based in Liphook or Manchester you will need flexibility to spend time in our engineering offices across UK
