The Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) Team brings together world-class researchers, developers, and engineers to create the future of AR and VR. These technologies have the potential for enormous global impact, and our interns work directly towards making this potential a reality. As a Research Engineer Intern, you will help us bring the best of Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision technology to Facebookâs AR/VR's products. Our efforts are to push the bar in three directions: build reliable platforms that scale to thousands of engineers, push state of the art in AI and CV for maximum product impact and build new experiences using AI.
Responsibilities
Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines Perform research for sparse and dense 3D reconstruction as well as object recognition to enable semantic reconstructions and scene understanding from images, and video Devise better data-driven depth estimation algorithms Devise algorithms for large-scale structure from motion algorithms Contribute research that can be applied to Facebook product development
Minimum Qualifications
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field Experience in scene reconstruction using 3D geometry approaches and/or machine learning Experience in optimization, geometric computer vision, and/or machine learning, and deep learning Fluency in C++, Python or other related language Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualifications
Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op Ability to communicate complex research in a clear, precise, and actionable manner A strong interest in theoretical and empirical research and for answering hard questions with research
