What you will be doing

POSITION SUMMARY:

An opportunity has becomeavailable for a Driver to join the Operations Team based at the Feltham officenear Heathrow. The driving activities will be mainly over short distances;however you may be required to undertake some long distance driving which mayoccasionally require overnight stops.

The role involves the useof light goods vehicles to transport time critical, and often temperaturecontrolled goods, carefully, safely and in a timely manner, in compliance withthe company’s operating procedures.

Our team of drivers arethe face of World Courier to our clients, and responsible for the on-time andsafe delivery of potentially life saving pharmaceutical products.

The shift for this role is 50 hours per week: 10 hours per day Monday - Friday between 05:00 and 22:00 on a rotational basis. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As well as driving thegoods to and from the required locations, duties include:

  • Completing appropriate daily and weekly maintenance checks of your allocated vehicle and reporting any maintenance requirements
  • Loading and unloading and ensuring that this is done safely and correctly
  • Checking documentation is correct and retaining it with the consignment or processing it as appropriate
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external customers
  • Complying with GDP (Good Distribution Practice) requirements at all times

    MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • A full UK driving licence
  • At least 2 years of commercial delivery driving experience - ideally with urgent and/or high value shipments
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Experience of maintaining accurate documentation
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer literate
  • Previous experience with urgent and/or temperature controlled deliveries, ideally pharmaceuticals
