This is an exciting opportunity to join a team to tell great stories about Britain.
We are looking for up to twenty freelance scriptwriters for a podcast project. You will be a member of a team delivering up to 100 topics by the end of this year. The topics range from personalities to institutions and from attractions to food.
Each topic will consist of ten individual scripts. Each script will be about 1,000 words in length. It tells three stories or note-worthy things with fun facts and/or anecdotes where appropriate.
Your writing needs to be engaging, entertaining as well as informative. You will be responsible for any research required. We will provide templates and a support system to help boost your rate of output.
You will have English as your first language with experience of similar or comparable projects. Excellent storytelling is a must. Time-efficient research will be a plus as it can offset any lack of topic expertise. The ability to meet deadlines is essential. Preference will be given to candidates capable of multiple topics but the single topic specialist will also be welcome.
We pay a flat rate of £500 per topic of ten scripts including research.
To apply, please send us a brief covering note indicating the topics you are interested in together with sample writing on three different topics (not necessarily the ones listed here). Your samples should be no more than one A4 page per topic. Those considered suitable will be invited to write a short text on a given topic within a limited turnaround time and a zoom interview thereafter.
