Solutions Architect

As a Barclays Solutions Architect, you will work within the Payment Merchant Services team, while having a real impact on our customers and colleagues’ experiences. Your architectural designs will change banking and working lives for the better, through technical designs that are based on customer and colleague experiences. You will be the technology expert to whom the business trusts to realise our aspirations on how they can best drive our business forward to help our customers.

What will you be doing?
• Creating an architectural vision in keeping with the business providing a technical solution for customer and colleagues
• Owning the technical solution and providing an end to end assurance that satisfies business needs
• Providing a fresh perspective that not only protects the brand but also re-energises Barclays as a bank with technology at its heart
• Changing the status-quo by driving change through new ideas with a team of like-minded architects encouraging each other to find the right technology solutions
• Owning the architectural future of multiple technology platforms by being the platform custodian and ensuring the developments align to the overall Barclays strategy
What we’re looking for:
• Experience of shaping and defining solutions across disparate technologies
• A broad and deep knowledge of technologies (including infrastructure) that are used by financial service providers, with a particular focus on Salesforce
• Excellent understanding of best practice architectural and design methods with proven innovative and leading edge thinking
• Experience of working in a highly regulated environment
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience of working with senior stakeholders to influence their thinking about what is possible through technology innovation
• Substantial experience of application integration & implementation and their architectural implications
• Understanding different project methodologies, project lifecycles, major phases, dependencies and milestones within a project
• Ability to understand how and where third part products could be deployed, including a good knowledge of vendor evaluation and selection best practice
Where will you be working?
Northampton was the birthplace of Barclaycard in 1966 and we've been based in Pavilion Drive since the building opened in 1997.
We purchased the building from the landlord in early 2018 as a sign of our commitment to investment in Northampton. Plans to further develop this Campus-style location are under way to allow for a real collaborative work environment. Based just off the A45 it is easily accessible by both car and bus routes.
